I own a 2014 Jeep Wrangler unlimited sport. Went for my oil change at the dealership and they told me I need to replace the oil cooler assembly because it cracked and is leaking oil and the engine oil is pooling in the pan. At the tune of $1200. Liberty 4x4 oil pan gasket replacement My 2003 Liberty with 225K miles has a persistent oil leak. Is there any way to replace the oil pan gasket without lifting the engine? I will not spend any more big bucks on this Jeep, but want to keep it.Since everything inside the motor has already been done, all you need to do it reinstall the oil pan (with new gasket). Torque the pan bolts in a "criss-cross" pattern to approximately 20 ft-lbs. Do not over-tighten the pan bolts because they strip easily. Don't forget to refill the engine oil. Fixing an oil pan gasket leak can be a frustrating ordeal. An oil pan is the reservoir at the bottom of your engine that collects oil after it has been cycled through your engine. Our recommendation would be to remove one of the screws that you have installed and take it to your local hardware store.One common modification of the Dana 300 is to add oil paddles to the main shaft to prevent oil starvation of the rear bearing. The Dana 300 was used in Jeep CJs from 1980 to 1986. The 1980 factory original came with a shorter tail housing and a longer rear drive shaft. The Dana 300 should fit behind all TorqueCommand 4x4 transmissions ... The 4.0L engine's rear main oil seal can be tricky to install, but there are many online install write-ups. And hey, you do not have to pull the transmission to get to it. You *do* have to pull your whole exhaust, however, which is a major PITA. You get to it by removing the oil pan, and the exhaust is simply in the way for this project.
